CEWEP would like to mark this International Women’s Day by congratulating Dr. Christine Wenzl – the new Plant Manager of several Wien Energie facilities, among them the famous Vienna Spittelau Waste-to-Energy plant!
With a PhD in Metallurgy, Dr. Christine Wenzl has worked in various companies in the field of metallurgy and refractory products occupying different functions (e.g., management of a refractories production plant and copper casthouse) – hence, she says, she is “used to working in industries where women (unfortunately!) are not that common, especially in leadership positions”.
Within Wien Energie she is now responsible for thermal waste treatment plants Spittelau & Flötzersteig, peak load plants (Spittelau, Arsenal, Leopoldau, Inzersdorf) and pumping stations – all together around 100 employees.
