LIPOR’s Waste-to-Energy plant celebrates 20 years!

17th March 2020
Over the past 20 years, over 7,700,000 tons of residual waste have been produced at LIPOR’s associated municipalities and treated by LIPOR.

Three landfills would have been needed to accommodate all this waste. Thousands of hectares of land would have been squandered in order to deposit all these quantities. And all these resources would be wasted without any use.

Instead, 20 years ago, LIPOR decided to use Waste-to-Energy technology in order to take full advantage of the residual waste produced. They developed an innovative project, the LIPOR Waste-to-Energy plant that has been producing energy and supplying it to the city ever since. This way they have avoided 1.5 million tons of CO2eq. emissions in the last two decades.

Congratulations to LIPOR on their anniversary and we wish for you to continue your great work for many years to come!
