A2A has always embraced transparency and dialogue with local communities, opening their facilities to foster a greater understanding of Waste-to-Energy technology’s role in the ecological transition.
In 2024, this commitment took shape through a major communication campaign demonstrating how strategic investments keep our infrastructure future-fit, ensuring it remains a benchmark for the sector. The initiative focused on the efficiency improvements at the Brescia Waste-to-Energy Plant, which brought its performance close to 100% and was inaugurated in the presence of the Mayor of Brescia and the President of the Lombardy Region, reinforcing the plant’s strategic role in decarbonizing Northern Italy.
Developed along three key pillars—digital and social engagement, education, and media outreach—the campaign had a broad impact. In the digital sphere, A2A partnered with Ingegneria Italia, a community of 2.2 million curious minds, expanding the conversation on LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram with over 3.4 million views and 76,000 interactions, and attracting new talent by highlighting the expertise and passion of A2A’s young professionals.
Education was another key focus: the plant hosted guided tours for citizens, schools, and international delegations, while an immersive virtual tour made the facility accessible anytime, anywhere. This innovation was featured in major local and national newspapers, with over 200 articles, as well as in TV news broadcasts and on one of Italy’s leading environmental programs, reaching a 19% audience share and nearly 2 million viewers.
To support this submission, a video and a webpage were developed highlighting the impact of the integrated communication campaign and providing further insight into their commitment and achievements.
